Cherry Wood Sources

American Black Cherry wood is often sourced from carefully managed forests in the eastern part of the United States, including West Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania. This species is particularly fast-growing when they’re young and will generally reach maturity in 20 to 50 years and reach heights of between 18 and 27 metres.

Wild Cherry trees are grown across the UK, Europe and into North America, where they thrive in hedgerows, lowlands, woodlands and forests. This is also considered a fast-growing species and once they’re established, they can grow between 40cm and 60cm every year. Wild Cherry trees reach maturity within 20 to 50 years, at which point they’ll be between 12 and 25 metres tall.

Crucially, neither American Black Cherry nor Wild Cherry woods have been identified as a threatened species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), making cherry a sustainable choice for furniture and other decorative objects.
